CRESTWOOD, IL – The Traverse City Beach Bums’(14-25) got some timely home run hitting in today’s matinee, picking up the win over the Windy City Thunderbolts(22-17) by the final score of 12-6. For the third straight game, Jose Vargas hit a home run. Today, it was a solo shot in the first inning that cleared the right-center field wall for his team-leading sixth of the season. Windy City responded in the bottom of the frame on an RBI single by Cody Keefer. In the fifth, Ryan Bottger led off with an infield single. Christian Santisteban then hit a hard base hit to right. Gaby Juarbe, moved the runners to second and third on a nice sacrifice bunt up the third base line. Jeff DeBlieux then hit a soft dribbler towards third and Bottger was thrown out trying to score. Casey Rodrigue followed and blasted a three-run homer over the right-center field walk for his first of the season and the first of his pro career, giving the Beach Bums a 4-1 lead. The Bums added one more run in the top of the ninth, starting when Giancarlo Brugnoni hit a single to right. Steven Patterson then followed with a grounder…
