NORMAL, IL – The Traverse City Beach Bums’(15-26) came back from a 4-3 deficit in the ninth to defeat the Normal Cornbelters(17-24), 7-4, taking the middle game of this three game series. The Beach Bums took an early 1-0 lead on a Jose Vargas RBI sacrifice fly, after Marco Derkes doubled to lead off the game. Kendall Patrick led off the third with a single and, after moving to second on a Jeff DeBlieux groundout, came in to score on Derkes’ second double of the game. Ryan Bottger singled Derkes to third then Jose Vargas hit his second RBI sacrifice fly, driving in Derkes, and it was 3-0. Normal started to chip away at the lead, starting in the fourth inning when Jesus Solorzano scored on a fielding error. In the fifth, with two outs, Aaron Dudley hit a solo homer to right field for his ninth of the season, bringing the Cornbelters within one. Solorzano followed with a solo blast of his own, this one over the left field wall, his first of the season, and the game was tied at 3.
