Bums Bats Awaken In Season Finale

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – The Traverse City Beach Bums(13-14) used a six run eighth inning to power their way to an 11-3 win over the Evansville Otters(13-14), grabbing the final game of this weekend’s series. With one out in the first inning, Jeff DeBlieux and Steven Patterson walked then Will Kengor drove in DeBlieux with double into left to give the Beach Bums a 1-0 lead. Evansville took the lead in the top of the third after Josh Allen tripled and Dane Phillips hit a two run homer to right-center field. Traverse City responded in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good. Arby Fields led off the inning with a walk then DeBlieux beat out a bunt single, moving Fields to second. Steven Patterson stepped up for an RBI double into right, tying the game at two. Kengor followed with a single up the middle, scoring both DeBlieux and Patterson, for a 4-2 lead. In the fifth, Alexis Rivera got in on the action with a one out double to center. He later scored, after a Kendall Patrick walk, on a double by Brook Clark.
