SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, set a franchise record by drawing 15 walks in a 17-2 victory over the Normal CornBelters, claiming a fifth consecutive win. Schaumburg finished with more walks than hits in the contest. The team batted around on three occasions, scoring five runs in the fourth, five in the sixth and six in the eighth. Every starter reached base with eight posting hits and eight scoring runs. Leading 1-0, Zack Weigel opened a five-run fourth with a two-run single. Weigel finished with five RBIs, a career high. Kyle Ruchim drew four walks and scored four times. Seth Spivey finished with four RBIs including a three-run double in the sixth. Lars Liguori benefited from the run support by working a season high seven innings. Liguori improved to 2-0 on the season by allowing one run on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Kyle Westwood finished out the win by working two frames. The 15 walks bested the previous mark of 14 set on August 29, 2014 at Windy City. Schaumburg has now won a season high five in a row and is off to the best start in franchise history,…
