SCHAUMBURG, IL —The East Division champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, came from behind to capture a third consecutive win, beating the Lake Erie Crushers 4-2 at Boomers Stadium. Lake Erie got on the board with a second inning sacrifice fly off the bat from Connor Oliver. Schaumburg storming back in the third with a pair of runs. Zach Weigel drove in the first with a single center, then Rock Shoulders followed two hitters later with an RBI walk. In the fourth, the Boomers would strike for two more. Kyle Ruchim drove in a pair of runs with a long single. Lake Erie would tack on another sacrifice fly, but that caps the scoring. On the mound, Joe Hauser dominated his way to 7 innings of two run baseball, both runs unearned. The right-hander struck out seven while allowing three hits and a couple of walks to earn the win. Evan Boyd pitched a perfect eighth. Jake Joyce shut the door in the ninth to earn his 14th save. Nick Deeg pitched for Lake Erie, taking the loss after allowing four runs in five innings.
