BOOMERS KICK OFF HOME SCHEDULE WITH COMEBACK WIN

SCHAUMBURG, IL — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, opened the home portion of the schedule by rallying to a 3-2 win over the Washington Wild Things on Tuesday night. Washington built a 2-0 lead against local product Jack Landwehr, a Mt. Prospect native who received the call for the home opener. The Wild Things plated a pair of runs in the third innings before Landwehr settled into a groove, facing the minimum over his final three innings of work. Schaumburg tied the game in the bottom of the fifth when Matt Rose throttled a two-run homer to left-center. The winning run scored in the eighth. Julio Gonzalez led off with a walk and reached third on a double from Quincy Nieporte. Connor Oliver delivered the game-winning blow with a sacrifice fly.
