The Schaumburg Boomers defeated the Washington Wild Things 3-1 in game four in the Frontier League Championship Series to force a decisive fifth game on Sunday. They jumped out to an early lead in the third when Quincy Nieporte hit a two-run single to make it 2-0. In the fifth, Angelo Gumbs connected on an RBI double to make it 3-0 Boomers. The Wild Things scored their lone run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Nick Ward to bring the final score to 3-1. Schaumburg starter Erik Martinez allowed just one run in seven innings of work, striking out eight in the Boomers win. Darrell Thompson earned his first save of the playoffs.
