TRAVERSE CITY, MI – The Traverse City Beach Bums(31-47) overcame an early four-run deficit to defeat the Joliet Slammers(35-44), 6-5 in 10 innings. Much like the first two games of the series, Joliet took an early lead on the Beach Bums. Tonight, in the first Ridge Hoopii-Haslam hit a two-run triple, then scored on an Edwin Gomez single, making it a 3-0 game. In the top of the fifth, with one away, Hoopii-Haslam hit a solo home run over the left field wall, adding to the Slammers advantage. The Beach Bums sent nine men to the plate in the bottom of the inning to pull within one. Arby Fields led off with a single, Steven Patterson doubled, and Luke Lowery was hit by a pitch to load the bases. John Montgomery followed with a single into right, scoring Fields and Patterson. After a Jeremy Stidham walk, Quintin Alexander hit an RBI single to plate Lowery, making it a 4-3 game. With one out in the sixth, Patterson singled and then Lowery smashed a two-run bomb, deep over the right field wall, and the Bums led by one.
