JOLIET, IL – After falling in game one of today’s twin bill, 7-1, the Traverse City Beach Bums(33-43) blasted their way to a 10-1 game two win over the Joliet Slammers(43-35), taking the weekend series, two games to one. Joliet, after a scoreless first two innings, took a 1-0 lead on a Carter Bell RBI single. In the fifth, the Beach Bums answered back when Gaby Juarbe singled, stole second, then scored on a Marcos Derkes RBI single. In the sixth, Joliet sent nine men to the plate to not only take the lead but break the game open. Charlie White hit an RBI single, and on the play, a second run scored on an error. Phillip Bates then scored on a wild pitch and Jake Gronsky hit a three-run homer, his seventh of the game to seal the game. Liam O’Sullivan picked up the complete game win, allowing one run on four hits, three walks, and he struck out nine. He improved to 8-1. Tucker Simpson is stuck with the loss to drop to 2-3.
