ALL-STAR LUNCHEON TO FEATURE FORMER CUBS OUTFIELDER BOBBY DERNIER

The Joliet Slammers presented by ATI Physical Therapy announce 1984 Gold Glove outfielder and former Chicago Cub Bobby Dernier as the guest speaker during the 2017 Frontier League All-Star Game luncheon hosted by the Slammers. The luncheon will be held in the Grand Ballroom at Joliet Union Station on Wednesday, July 12. Dernier will sign autographs for luncheon attendees. Dernier was the leadoff hitter for the Cubs’ 1984 N.L. East division championship team. Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg batted second and the lead-off pair was dubbed “The Daily Double” by Cubs announcer Harry Caray. The luncheon is open to the public and will also include the Frontier League Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Joliet Slammers Box Office at (815) 722-2287. All-Star events coming to Joliet kick off on Monday, July 10 when Frontier league players, staffs and fans from all 11 other teams in the league arrive in Joliet. Harrah’s Joliet Casino and Hotel is the official hotel of the Frontier League All-Star Game.
