SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, scored 14 runs, including a seven-run fifth inning, and beat the Schaumburg Boomers, 14-1, to complete the sweep. The Crushers (42-45) sweep their first series in Schaumburg in franchise history and score 33 runs over the three games. They finish the season series, 8-4 against the Boomers and are 9-2 in their last 11 games. The loss for Schaumburg (37-50) is their fifth in a row. They are now 7-13 in August. The Crushers jumped on the board in the first inning. Robb Paller walked and Brendan Costantino singled. Connor Oliver knocked a ground-rule double to left field, scoring a run. With runners on second and third, Jose Barraza hit an RBI groundout to the shortstop, Nick Oberg, scoring Costantino. Oliver would score later in the inning on a wild pitch. In the second inning, Bryan De La Rosa walked with one out and then Max Casper singled. With two outs, Costantino doubled to right-center field, scoring two runs. With the Crushers up 5-0, De La Rosa hit a ball into center field that Tobias Moreno tried to catch but missed. He dove on the ground and the ball rolled…
