The Dogs hit five homeruns tonight, and battled back from a 6-0 first inning deficit, but dropped another one run game to the Cleburne Railroaders tonight, 10-9.
Cleburne scored six runs on six hits and two walks off Jake Carroll who did not make it out of the first inning. A two-run home run by Brian O’Grady and a three-run shot by Korey Holland accounted for the big swings of that first.
The Dogs would get three back on the seventh homerun of the season, by Johnni Turbo, a solo shot, and a two-run homer by Narciso Crook, making it 6-3 after two and a half innings. Cleburne would get all three of those runs back though and take a 9-3 lead heading into the fifth inning.
The Dogs would storm back, scoring the next six runs of the game, a pair of solo homeruns by Chase Harris, his first two homeruns since joining the Dogs last month and an RBI single by Zion Pettigrew would make it 9-7. In the ninth inning with two outs, Crook would hit his second homerun of the game and fifth of the series off Railroader closer Dylan Bice, tying the game at nine.
However, in the bottom of the ninth, Holland would lead off the inning with a triple and would score the game winning run on a sacrifice fly by Brett Boswell. The Dogs finish their regular season with Cleburne with a 4-8 record. Eight of the twelve games between these two teams were decided by one run, with seven of eight Railroader victories coming by just a single run.
The Dogs are off tomorrow but are back in action Tuesday night in Kansas City, taking on the Monarchs in a rematch of the 2023 Wolff Cup Championship. All Chicago Dogs games are streamed, live and free, on aabaseball.tv.
