Dogs complete sweep against Kansas City

The Dogs completed the sweep of the Kansas City Monarchs tonight behind Dusty Stroup’s homerun, two doubles and four RBI, by the score of 7-5.

The scoring started right away for the Dogs as Stroup drove home Jacob Teter who had reached on an error and then a couple batters later, Johnni Turbo would single up the middle, bringing home a pair, giving Chicago a 3-0 lead after half an inning. Stroup would strike again in the second, this time, hitting a 421-foot home run to straight away center field, scoring three and putting Chicago up 6-0.

Kansas City would score four times in their half of the second on a pair of two RBI singles, one by Abiatal Avelino and the other, Frankie Tostado. The Dogs would extend their lead to three as Narciso Crook would hit his sixth homerun in the last seven games, his 22nd on the year, putting the Dogs up 7-4. The Monarchs would get one back on a Tostado homerun, but that is as close as they would get as Jake Carroll, Jackson Dannelley and Brian Schlitter would combine to throw three scoreless innings of relief. The last two by Schlitter, earned him his third save of the year as well as setting the Dogs all-time record for appearances with 93.

Brady Miller overcame a rough start to give Chicago six innings of five run ball, earning his first professional victory. The Dogs are back home for the first time in 12 days tomorrow night as they welcome in the Fargo-Morehead RedHawks for a three-game set at Impact Field. LHP Zach Davidson (1-0 2.45) will make his third start of the year for Chicago while RHP Kolby Kiser (3-6 5.71) goes for Fargo. All Chicago Dogs games are streamed, live and free on aabaseball.tv.
