Chicago Dogs offense torn down in 7-1 loss in Sioux Falls.
Following a series opening victory in extra innings for the Dogs, the team’s late night offensive spark failed to carry over into game two.
Nick Dalesandro’s hot bat continued into the first inning of game two, getting a hit then scoring. Dalesandro’s run was the only run scored on the night for the Dogs.
Starting pitcher Kenny Serwa lasted six innings, striking out six and letting up three runs.
Serwa has lasted at least five innings in all of his starts this season. The first year pitcher with the Dogs organization has been extremely reliable out of Stu Cliburn’s pitching rotation.
Serwa’s night was complete heading into the seventh inning. The Dogs bullpen completely removed the team from the game, allowing four runs over the final two innings of the game.
First out of the bullpen was newly signed pitcher Brody Sorenson. Sorenson recently completed his collegiate career at the University of Minnesota Crookston, holding a 4.62 ERA in 169.1 innings over his four year career.
In his professional baseball debut, Sorenson couldn’t last for an inning of work, being pulled after retiring two outs. Sorenson allowed three runs on five hits.
Lukas Galdoni finished off the game on the mound, allowing one run over 1.1 innings pitched.
The Dogs will look to recover in game three with Matt Walker on the mound, in search of the series victory.
