TOPA, BOULDERS SHUTOUT MINERS

Can-Am League all-star pitcher Justin Topa (pictured) and three relievers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Rockland Boulders defeated Sussex County, 5-0. Topa went the first six innings giving up two walks and three hits while striking out seven in a 94-pitch effort. The bullpen trio of Thomas Lawrence, Michael O’Neal and Ethan Elias finished the final three innings allowing only a hit and striking out three batters. Topa notched the victory and is now a league best 8-1 on the season.In other league action, Ottawa topped New Jersey, 5-2 and Trois-Rivieres defeated Quebec, 6-4.
