The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has announced that Sussex County Miners RHP Michael Tamburino (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending September 4. Tamburino was dominant in his lone start in the regular season’s final week. The Baldwin, N.Y. native took the mound Friday night to face the Trois-Rivieres Aigles at home, and twirled a seven-inning complete game one-hitter. In a doubleheader nightcap, Tamburino worked all seven innings, allowing a single unearned run on one hit and one walk. He struck out 10 in the outing, helping the Miners roll to an 8-1 win.
