SALGUEIRO, HARRIS NAMED ROOKIES OF THE YEAR

Dayton, Ohio — Quebec Capitales OF David Salgueiro and Trois-Rivières Aigles RHP Garrett Harris have been named the Can-Am League’s 2019 Rookie Player of the Year and Rookie Pitcher of the Year, respectively, as selected in a poll of league managers and media members. After joining the Capitales late in the 2018 campaign and hitting .455 in the playoffs, Salgueiro has appeared in a team-high 81 games for Québec this season, assembling a .268 average and leading the team with 21 stolen bases, 71 hits and 47 runs scored. The Capitales signed the speedy Miami native after he finished his collegiate career at Central Methodist (Mo.) University. As a sophomore in 2016, he led the NJCAA with 60 stolen bases at Kishwaukee (Ill.) Community College. Meanwhile, Harris is currently tied for third in the Can-Am League with nine victories and fifth with 105 strikeouts while putting together a 3.67 ERA.…
