ROLLINS LEADS THE WAY IN MINERS WIN OVER CAPITALES

JULY 8 LEAGUE RECAP Photo Courtesy: Torri Koppenaal/Sussex County Miners Sussex County 9, Quebec 2 – Box Score With the score tied at 1-1 through four innings of play, Sussex County tallied eight consecutive runs over their final four trips to plate to take home a 9-2 win over Quebec. With the victory, the Miners regained sole possession of first place in the Can-Am League. Sussex County starting pitcher David Rollins (pictured) tossed eight solid innings in earning his sixth victory of the season. Rollins gave up one earned run on six hits with a pair of walks and four strikeouts. The southpaw currently leads the league in earned run average (1.24) and strikeouts (77). Offensively, the Miners banged out 13 hits in the contest. Sussex County leadoff hitter Connor Crane went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI while 3B Martin Figueroa contributed two hits and two runs batted in. Catcher Luis Alen also chipped in a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate and plated a run. For Quebec in the losing effort, 1B Adam Ehrlich went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
