RAY’S HIT STREAK LEADS TO PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

Photo Credit: Torri Koppenaal/Sussex County Miners DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has announced that Sussex County Miners OF Jayce Ray (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending July 22. Ray currently owns a nine-game hitting streak, and recorded a hit in all seven games he played this week. He hit .409 (9-for-22) this week, adding a pair of doubles, a home run, and nine RBI to his line. His efforts helped lead Sussex County to an undefeated week. The Sonoma, Calif. resident opened his week on Wednesday with a doubleheader against the Rockland Boulders. In the opening game, he was 1-for-3 with a double, RBI, and run scored as Sussex County won 4-0. Ray continued his hit streak with a 1-for-4 night in a 4-3 triumph in the nightcap. Ray’s best game of the week occurred in the opener of a five-game series on Thursday night on the road against the New Jersey Jackals. Ray went 3-for-5 in the contest, falling a triple shy of the cycle, driving in three runs and scoring three more. Sussex County rolled 18-1. The Miners won on the road against the…
