OTTERS EXTEND LEAD IN WEST WITH WIN OVER BOOMERS

Catch up on anything you may have missed from Saturday’s action in the Frontier League here: The Evansville Otters held off a late rally by the Schaumburg Boomers for a 7-4 win. The Boomers got on the board first with an RBI single by Braxton Davidson in the first. Evansville responded in the third, with both Jeffrey Baez and Elijah MacNamee singling home runs for the 2-1 advantage. Gary Mattis tripled home a run in the fourth, and a Justin Felix sacrifice fly extended the lead to 5-1 Otters. In the bottom of the fifth, Chase Dawson hit a solo home run to cut the deficit to 5-2, and in the seventh, Clint Hardy singled home Dawson to make it 4-3. In the eighth, Baez hit a two-run double for the Otters to make it 7-3, and Brett Milazzo’s fielder’s choice in the ninth made it a 7-4 final score.…
