MURPHY EARNS TWO VICTORIES, NAMED PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Thornhill, Ontario — Trois-Rivières Aigles RHP Chris Murphy is the Can-Am League’s Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 26-September 1, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician. Murphy registered two victories on the week, giving up just one earned run in 11 innings of work, striking out 10. On Tuesday against Québec, the Wilmington, Del., native allowed no earned runs in six innings pitched in a 6-4 Aigles win. He followed the outing up by throwing five innings against New Jersey on Sunday, allowing one run on three hits. On the season, the 26-year-old is 8-5 with a 4.36 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 113.2 innings. Murphy is in his third season with the Aigles, leading the team with 11 wins last year. Prior to Trois-Rivières, he spent two seasons in the Houston Astros organization after being chosen in the 24th round of the 2015 draft…
