MOONEY AND SANDFORD JOIN ALBERS AND FONT IN THE SPOTLIGHT

The 5-foot-8 Peter Mooney was a regular for the Jackals in 2015, hitting .263 with a nice .372 on-base percentage and a four-homer, 27-RBI campaign for 95 games. This year he was Triple-A New Orleans’s shortstop for 96 games while playing in 116 in all including some time at both second and third base. Defense was his thing as it usually is with a shortstop. Still only 27, Mooney went .213-4-34 with 18 doubles offensively, and most importantly he has been invited to represent the Marlins in the prestigious Arizona Fall League with these opportunities normally only going to players considered legitimate major league prospects.
