JULY 18 EVENING RECAP Sussex County 4, Rockland 0 (Game 1 – 7 Innings) – Box Score A terrific performance by starting pitcher Andrew Vinson led Sussex County to a 4-0 victory over Rockland in game one of a doubleheader. Vinson was simply outstanding as he tossed his league tying third complete game and second shutout of the season. The righty allowed only one hit and three walks while striking out four in a 100-pitch performance. With the victory, Vinson improved his mark to 6-2 on the year. Offensively for the Miners, CF Jayce Ray went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI while 1B Audy Ciriaco contributed a hit in two official at-bats and tallied a run. All four of Sussex County’s runs came in the fourth inning. For Rockland in the losing effort, 1B Conrad Gregor provided their only hit with a two-out single in the sixth inning. Sussex County 4, Rockland 3 (Game 2 – 9 Innings) – Box Score Right fielder Breland Almadova singled home SS Jarred Mederos with the game winning run in the ninth inning as Sussex County defeated Rockland, 4-3 and completed the doubleheader sweep.
