The Sussex County Miners finished the game with the New Jersey Jackals the same way they started it, with a bang. They scored five runs in the first and then three more in the ninth to claim an 11-8 win. After the five-run first, which was capped by a three-run home run from 2B Justin Trapp (pictured), the Miners added three more in the top of the fourth to take an 8-3 lead. But the Jackals came roaring back and eventually tied the score in the bottom of the eighth with a two-run home run from RF Johnny Bladel, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI. In the ninth, 3B Jay Baum, Trapp and C Nate Irving hit back-to-back-to-back RBI singles to take back the lead.Elsewhere, Quebec topped Trois-Rivieres 6-1 in the first game of a twinbill and the night cap was halted by rain after two innings.
