MINERS DEFEAT AIGLES IN WALK-OFF

MAY 23 EVENING RECAP Sussex County 2, Trois-Rivieres 1 (10 Innings) – Box Sussex County 1B Martin Figueroa was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning and that forced in the game winning run as the Miners defeated Trois-Rivieres in walk-off fashion, 2-1. After three scoreless innings to start off the contest, Sussex County jumped on the board, 1-0 in the fourth on an RBI single by CF Jayce Ray. The score would stay that way until the top of the ninth when the Aigles tied the contest at 1-1 on a sacrifice fly by SS Sam Dexter. The game would eventually head into extra innings where the Miners won it in the 10th on the hit by pitch. Ray went 1-for-4 with an RBI while SS Jarred Mederos had a hit in four at-bats and plated a run. Sussex County pitcher Andrew Vinson tossed a scoreless inning of relief to collect the victory. Ottawa 4, New Jersey 0 – Box Starting pitcher Jake Hale and two relievers combined on a four-hit shutout as Ottawa downed New Jersey by the score of 4-0.
