Thornhill, Ontario — New Jersey Jackals OF Alfredo Marte is the Can-Am League’s Batter of the Week for the week of June 24-30, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician. In six games, Marte hit .409 (9-for-22) with three doubles, one home run, five runs scored and eight RBI as the Jackals went 3-3. Eight of the nine hits came in the three-game series against the Cuba national team: after going 2-for-5 Friday, the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native went 3-for-5 with two doubles Saturday and 3-for-3 with a homer and three runs scored in an 8-6 win Sunday. Currently, the 30-year-old leads the league with 77 total bases, is tied for first with 14 doubles and 20 extra-base hits, is second with 35 RBI and 33 runs, and is tied for second with 6 home runs.
