The Sussex County Miners had just two hits through the first seven innings against the Trois-Rivieres Aigles. But the Miners doubled that total in the eighth with back-to-back doubles from SS Michael Antonio (pictured) and LF Connor Hoffman to plate the first run. The Miners’ bats stayed hot through the ninth as they added four more runs on the way to a 5-1 win. Sussex County opened the ninth with three straight singles, the third – from 3B Nick Giarraputo – scored the first run of the rally. DH Chris Duffy singled in the next at-bat to plate 1B Joe Dunigan and both Giarraputo and Duffy scored on a CF Jay Austin double two batters later.Elsewhere, Quebec topped New Jersey 8-4.
