JACKALS EDGE CHAMPIONS IN MATINEE

The Jackals broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the top of the seventh, and the bullpen held on for a 2-1 victory over the Champions in a Civic Holiday matinee at RCGT Park. CF Johnny Bladel drew a leadoff walk for New Jersey, stole second, and scored on an RBI single from PH Jon Dziomba. Jackals pitching was dominant. LHP Isaac Pavlik (pictured) struck out five over seven innings, allowing a run on five hits and earning the win. RHP Nate Gercken and RHP Johnny Hellweg each threw a scoreless inning in relief, with Hellweg earning a save.
