The Miners took the final contest of their three-game series against the Capitales on Sunday to prevent them from getting swept. Neither team scored until the fourth when 3B Nick Giarraputo (pictured) doubled in the first run of the game. In the fifth, the Miners scored another run via a wild pitch to make it 2-0. RF Marcus Knecht connected on his fifth home run of the year to cut the deficit in half in the sixth, but in the ninth Giarraputo knocked in his second run to give the Miners a 3-1 lead. RHP Elhajj Muhammad nailed the door shut by getting the last two outs of the game, earning his second save of the year in the process.Elsewhere, the Champions beat the Jackals 9-3.
