FORMER JACKAL STOCK MAKES BIG-LEAGUE DEBUT

San Francisco – RHP Robert Stock, who pitched for the Can-Am League’s New Jersey Jackals in 2016, made his major league debut on Sunday for the San Diego Padres after being called up from Triple-A El Paso. Entering the game in the tenth inning, Stock held the San Francisco Giants scoreless in one inning of work, striking out two hitters in the Padres’ eventual 3-2 11-inning defeat. Stock’s contract was originally purchased by the Cincinnati Reds from the Jackals during the 2016-17 off-season, and the Bellevue, Wash., native split the 2017 season between the Reds’ Single-A and Double-A affiliates. He then signed with the Padres’ organization for 2018, starting at Double-A before being promoted to Triple-A in late April. Stock had a combined 1-0 record with a 1.95 ERA in 28 relief outings this year. The 28-year-old is the 15th alumnus of a Can-Am League club to play in the major leagues, and the sixth former Jackal.
