CUBA HOLDS OFF LATE RALLY TO BEAT SHIKOKU ISLAND

The Cuban National Team tallied single runs in each of the first three innings and held off a late rally by Shikoku Island to win, 5-3. Cuba collected 11 hits in the contest with three batters having multi-hit games. First baseman Yasiel Santoya (pictured) went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI while 2B Raul Gonzalez had two hits and drove in a run. In other league action, New Jersey topped Quebec, 4-3, Ottawa beat Sussex County, 3-2 and Rockland defeated Trois-Rivieres, 7-3.
