CRUZ STRIKES OUT 14 IN JACKALS WIN

The Jackals utilized two three-run innings to earn the series win on Sunday, as they defeated the Miners in three out of four games. RHP Fernando Cruz (pictured) dominated the Miners, striking out 14 batters over eight innings. Cruz (2-2) allowed two runs on five hits to go along with the 14 K’s. The Jackals took a 3-0 lead in the third as three different players picked up RBIs including 1B Brian Burgamy. After going up 3-0, the Jackals added a fourth run in the seventh inning. The Miners scored twice in the eighth but could not collect any more runs. Meanwhile, the Jackals scored three more runs in the eighth to make it a 7-2 game, as they went on to win by the same score.In the other game of the afternoon the Capitales defeated the Champions by a score of 10-6.
