CONSISTENT ROOKIE DeTRINGO IS BATTER OF THE WEEK

Thornhill, Ontario — Ottawa Champions IF Nick DeTringo is the Can-Am League’s Batter of the Week for the week of August 26-September 1, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician. In six games, DeTringo went 10-for-20 (.500) with a pair of doubles and three RBI as the Champions went 4-2 on the week. The Ruskin, Fla., native had at least one hit in each of the team’s six games, including a 3-for-3 performance against Quebec on Friday and a 2-for-4 afternoon Sunday against the Capitales which included a double and an RBI. DeTringo joined the Champions in July for his first professional stint after playing collegiately at the University of Tampa.
