CHAMPIONS’ HOT-HITTING BROWN NAMED BATTER OF THE WEEK

Thornhill, Ontario — Ottawa Champions OF Steve Brown was named the Can-Am League’s Batter of the Week for the week of June 10-16, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician. In five games, Brown went 6-for-16 (.375) with three doubles, three runs scored and five RBI as the Champions went 3-2 on the week. Most notably, the native of Barranquilla, Colombia, was 3-for-5 with a two-RBI walk-off double in his team’s 5-4 victory over the Cuba national team on Friday. He was also 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and two RBI in an 11-6 loss to visiting Quebec on Wednesday. Currently, Brown leads the league with a .372 average, is fourth with a .551 slugging percentage and is fifth with a .442 on-base percentage.
