CHAMPIONS HOLD OFF CAPITALES' LATE PUSH

The Champions held off a late effort by the Capitales and took a 7-6 win on the road on Sunday. 2B Albert Cartwright and DH Kenny Bryant (pictured) opened the scoring for Ottawa with back-to-back solo home runs in the third. Quebec tied the game in the fourth, but Bryant gave Ottawa the lead back with a two-RBI single in the fifth. 1B Alexander Malleta hit a three-run homer in the seventh for Ottawa to push the lead to 7-3. Quebec plated three runs in the eighth, but Ottawa held on. Elsewhere, New Jersey topped Trois-Rivieres 15-1
