CAPITALES EARN FIRST WIN BY BEATING NEW JERSEY 5-3

A three-run fifth inning paved the way for the Capitales to take their first win of the season by a 5-3 final over the host Jackals. Leading 2-0 entering the frame, 3B Taylor Oldham led off with a ground rule double. 2B Maxx Tissenbaum (pictured) followed with a single, and SS Yurisbel Gracial walked to load the bases. 1B Jordan Lennerton singled home Oldham for the first run, and a bases-loaded walk to CF Kalian Sams pushed the Capitales’ lead to 4-0. The inning’s final run scored on a sacrifice fly by RF Marcus Knecht. In other action, Ottawa defeated Trois-Rivieres 10-6, and Rockland topped Sussex County 6-3 in 11 innings.
