MAY 23 AFTERNOON RECAP Rockland 3, Quebec 2 (Game 1 – 7 Innings) – Box Designated hitter Marcus Nidiffer’s two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning was the difference in the contest as Rockland beat Quebec in game one of a doubleheader, 3-2. After three scoreless innings to start off the game, each team plated a run in the fourth to make it a 1-1 tie. The Capitales scored on a DH Brad Antchak RBI single while the Boulders 3B Cody Regis launched a solo home run. The score stayed that way until the bottom of the sixth when Nidiffer’s double made it 3-1. Quebec plated a run off an error in the seventh to close the gap to 3-2 but left the bases loaded to end the game. Nidiffer went 2-for-3 with two RBI while Regis collected a pair of hits, scored twice and drove in a run. Rockland pitcher Marc Huberman tossed 1/3 of an inning of relief with a strikeout to notch his first win.
