Though the first game of the doubleheader was only scheduled to go seven innings, the Rockland Boulders needed 11 innings and almost four hours to slide past the New Jersey Jackals 8-7.The Jackals forced extras with four runs in the bottom of the seventh and the game stayed tied at 6-6 until the top of the 11th. C Alex Herceg scored the go-ahead run in the 11th on a sacrifice fly from 3B Cody Regis and two batters later, DH Marcus Nidiffer (pictured) – who went 4-for-5 – plated what would be the game-winning run with an RBI single that pushed 2B Dylan Tice across. The Boulders took game two 3-1. Elsewhere, the Miners beat Cuba 15-4, Quebec topped Ottawa 7-4 and the Dominican Republic edged Trois-Rivieres 7-4.
