JULY 10 AFTERNOON RECAP Rockland 3, New Jersey 1 (Game 1 – 7 Innings) – Box Score A pair of first inning home runs and a good outing by starter Garrett Johnson leads Rockland to a 3-1 win over New Jersey in game one of a doubleheader. After Boulders SS JC Rodriguez was retired to lead-off the bottom of the first, RF Conor Bierfeldt came to plate and drew a walk. The next batter, 3B Cody Regis, took the very first pitch he saw from Jackals starter Yasmani Hernandez and launched a two-run home run to give Rockland a 2-0 lead. Boulders DH Marcus Nidiffer came up next and followed the Regis blast with one of his own to increase the advantage to 3-0. That is all Rockland would need as Johnson held the Jackals at bay with a solid six inning performance. The southpaw gave up one earned run on five hits and struck out four batters.
