BAUM, MINERS EDGE CUBAN NATIONAL TEAM FOR SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN

Sussex County 3B Jay Baum (pictured) launched a two-run home run in the sixth inning to give the Miners the lead for good as they defeated the Cuban National Team by a 2-1 final. Leadoff hitter Adron Chambers had a perfect 4-for-4 night at the plate while RF Rubi Silva and 2B Justin Trapp each had two hits in four at-bats with Silva scoring a run. The victory by the Miners was their sixth straight. In other league action, Trois-Rivieres defeated the Dominican Republic, 7-2, Ottawa beat Quebec, 9-3 and Rockland topped New Jersey, 7-5.
