The Ottawa Champions topped the New Jersey Jackals 5-1 behind a stellar performance from starting pitcher Phillippe Aumont (4-4). Aumont (pictured) went eight innings and gave up the one earned run on five hits while striking out eight batters. The Jackals’ lone run came with two outs in the eighth inning when 1B Brian Burgamy singled to score SS Max Casper. But that wouldn’t be enough to catch Ottawa’s hot start. SS Daniel Bick hit a lead-off home run in the bottom of the first inning and Ottawa added four more in the second. Bick added two more RBI with a double in the second and he scored on a double from LF Matt Helms.Elsewhere, Quebec rallied past Trois-Rivieres 8-5 and Rockland topped Sussex County 7-3.
