ALVAREZ TOSSES COMPLETE-GAME SHUTOUT FOR AIGLES

The Trois-Rivieres Aigles shutout the Ottawa Champions 4-0 thanks to a complete game performance from starting pitcher Edilson Alvarez (pictured). Alvarez (6-10) faced 37 batters and retired them with 129 pitches, 89 for strikes. He allowed just five hits, did not issue a walk and struck out six batters. The Aigles backed him up with a run in the third and three more in the sixth. In the bottom of the third, 2B Carter McEachern doubled home LF Trevor Gretzky. In the sixth, RF Javier Herrera doubled to score both DH Daniel Mateo and SS David Glaude and then scored on a sac fly from 1B Connor Crane.Elsewhere, the Capitales held off the Miners 7-5.
