ALMADOVA’S DOUBLE GIVES MINERS SECOND CONSECUTIVE WALK-OFF VICTORY

AUGUST 2 AFTERNOON LEAGUE RECAP Photo Courtesy: Dennis Mark/Sussex County Miners Sussex County 3, Trois-Rivieres 2 (Game 1) – Box Score Right fielder Breland Almadova (pictured) hit a three-run double in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Sussex County a 3-2 walk-off win over Trois-Rivieres in game one of a day-night doubleheader. This is the sixth straight win for the Miners and the second consecutive walk-off. The Aigles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by 3B Taylor Brennan and 1B Kevin Cornelius. Neither team would score another run until the bottom of the ninth when Almadova hit his double to bring home three runs and win the game for Sussex County. Almadova finished the contest 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Miners starting pitcher Kenny Koplove tossed a complete game and earned his sixth victory of the season. Koplove, who pinched hit last night and picked-up the game-winning hit, allowed two earned runs on seven hits and struck out five batters. For Trois-Rivieres in the loss, Brennan had a 1-for-3 game with a run scored and an RBI. Fans can watch all Can-Am League games live and for free at www.canamleague.tv.
