UTICA, Mich. – Right handed pitcher Austin Shea tossed 4.0 scoreless innings and Cameron Collett went 2-for-4 to lead the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers (1-0) past the Westside Woolly Mammoths (0-1), 6-4, on Saturday at Jimmy John’s Field.
LHP Greg Loukinen, a native of Berkley, made the start for the Mammoths, throwing 3.0 innings, allowing just one hit and struck out four in the no decision. Houston Parker and Buddy Dewaine Jr. each drove in a run for the Mammoths.
The Beavers scored six runs, on six hits and had two errors, while the Woolly Mammoths tallied four runs, eight hits and committed two errors.
The Beavers take on the Unicorns next Friday for another Friday Fireworks Spectacular at Jimmy John’s Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
