Wichita 11, Sioux City 8- Box Score The Wichita Wingnuts came out on top of a back and forth battle with the Sioux City Explorers on Sunday to earn an 11-8 win. Abel Nieves and Tony Thomas hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the top of the first and John Nester followed with an RBI single. The Explorers scored two in the next frame with one coming on a Michael Lang solo home home run (5). Both teams exchanged runs in the third and the fourth to make it a 5-4 game. Wichita scored another run in the top of the fifth, but Sioux City answered with four of their own in the bottom of the frame, with two coming on a two-run double by Jay Baum. Wichita tied the game in the next frame with a two-run Tony Thomas home run (11). The Wingnuts took the lead in the seventh with a Logan Watkins RBI double and didn’t look back, scoring two more in the top of the ninth.
