Wichita 8, Lincoln 1- Box Score The Wichita Wingnuts (26-17) slugged their way to an 8-1 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs (25-19) on Wednesday. Wingnuts’ starter, Charles Gillies (4-1), was equally as crucial in the win, giving up just one unearned run while walking none and striking out 11 in eight innings of work. Wichita took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on solo home runs by John Nester (2) and Ryne Willard (3). Willard hit another solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 3-0. The Saltdogs cut the lead to two in the top of the sixth on a T.J. Bennet RBI single, but the Wingnuts answered with an RBI triple by Tony Thomas and an RBI double by Nester in the bottom of the frame. Wichita scored three more in the bottom of the eighth to bring the game to its final score. Sioux City 13, Winnipeg 6- Box Score The Sioux City Explorers (35-10) scored 13 runs on 13 hits to defeat the Winnipeg Goldeyes (21-24) 13-6 on Wednesday.
