SERMO HELPS SIOUX CITY SWEEP WEEKLY AWARDS

MOORHEAD, MN- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Sioux City Explorers’ IF Jose Sermo (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending September 2. Sermo earned the award after hitting .471 with two doubles, seven RBIs and eight runs scored this past week. The 2018 All-Star joined teammate Jason Garcia, this week’s Pitcher of the Week, to sweep the weekly awards. Sermo began his professional career in 2012 after being drafted in the 35th round of the MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. The Puerto Rico native spent three seasons in the Brewers’ organization before playing for the Gary SouthShore RailCats in 2015. Sermo began 2018 with the Winnipeg Goldeyes, playing four games up north before moving on to Sioux City.
