RED-HOT WILEY NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Durham, N.C. — The American Association has announced that Kansas City T-Bones 2B Brett Wiley is the Player of the Week for the week ending July 10, as selected by Pointstreak, the league’s official statistician. Wiley went 11-for-20 (.550) with three doubles, two home runs and 14 RBI, helping the T-Bones to a 4-2 record on the week. The Huntington, Ind., native was a home run short of the cycle in Kansas City’s 7-5 victory over Sioux City on Saturday, driving in four runs and scoring two runs. Wiley has been a consistent performer in his first season with the T-Bones, hitting .322 with 26 RBI, 11 doubles and 4 home runs. Previously, the 24-year-old spent four seasons in the St. Louis Cardinals’ organization, reaching as high as Triple-A.
