Durham, N.C. — The contract of Lincoln Saltdogs RHP Clayton Cook has been purchased by the Texas Rangers organization, the American Association announced on Friday. Cook was stellar in ten relief outings with the Saltdogs this season, going 1-0 and allowing one run on six hits in ten innings of work, fanning 16 and limiting opposing hitters to a .162 batting average. Previously, the 26-year-old spent seven seasons in the Cleveland Indians’ organization, reaching as high as Double-A. A native of Amarillo, Texas, Cook was chosen by the Indians in the 9th round of the 2008 draft. Cook is the second Lincoln player to have his contract purchased by a major-league organization in 2016, following INF Christian Ibarra, who joined the Minnesota Twins’ organization in June.
