Gary SouthShore 12, Kansas City 5 – Box Gary SouthShore tallied seven big runs in the fifth inning to overcome an early deficit and beat Kansas City by a 12-5 final. The RailCats pounded out 13 hits in the contest with four batters collecting at least two. Gary SouthShore DH Frank Martinez and CF/RF Chase Harris went a combined 4-for-9 at the plate with four runs scored and eight RBI. Martinez also chipped in a three-run blast with 2B John Holland adding a pair of hits and plating two runs. RailCats starting pitcher Travis McGee allowed five earned runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings pitched to nab his fourth win. The victories by Gary SouthShore and Lincoln coupled with the loss by Sioux City give the RailCats a ½ game lead over Lincoln and a 1 ½ game advantage over the Explorers in the race for the Central Division.
